Get to know Scott Lanham, No.10 Restaurant + Bar’s Assistant Restaurant Manager.
An integral part of the service team, Scott provides amazing support with his ‘can do’ attitude and a willingness to go above and beyond.
We sat down for a quick Q&A with the man whom team members and guests have consistently referred to as a joy to work with and to be served by.
Q. Have you always lived in Canberra? A. No. I grew up in country NSW then lived in Newcastle before moving to Canberra.
Q. What sparked your love for hospitality and how did you start your career? A. I worked part-time at a restaurant whilst finishing high school. I continued working in bars and restaurants, both during and after university.
Q. As the Assistant Restaurant Manager, what does your typical day consist of? A. I'm responsible for running the evening shifts. I begin in the afternoon and finish about eleven. Our evening service consists of two parts: a late afternoon bar service and then a dinner service. I work alongside a great team to deliver these to our guests.
Q. What do you enjoy most about working at No.10 Restaurant + Bar? A. I like the active nature and complexity of the job. Hospitality workplaces are unpredictable and delivering high quality service is always challenging. Thankfully, all of us at No. 10 Restaurant + Bar support each other to meet the needs of such an environment.
Q. Outside of work, what do you like to do? A. I pride myself on not owning a television but instead, many large full bookcases. I read mostly literary fiction and philosophy. I've also recently began playing classical guitar again which was something I did to a high level when I was younger.
Q. What weird food combinations do you secretly enjoy? A. Unfortunately, I'm pretty traditional when it comes to food. I prefer simple classical dishes to modern fusion stuff.
Q. What’s your favourite dish on the new winter menu and why? A. The Lamb Shoulder Pie has been very popular. It's a great dish for combating the Canberra cold.
Next time you’re in the restaurant, make sure to say hello to our lovely team members.
